How do I describe myself in a nutshell? Well, most people would say that I simply wouldn't fit.

The fact is that I simply have too many passions and interests that it's difficult to know where to start. So I'll just dive right in.

Work: I work freelance in the television (and sometimes film or music) industry. Since graduating from Ryerson's Radio and Television Arts program in 2005, I have held the following positions: Intern (at a recording studio), Admin Assistant (for the 2006 Winter Olympics at CBC), PA, Audience Assistant, Wrangler, TVA, Audio Assistant, Production Secretary, Coordinator (of script, travel and gift bags for the 2007 CCMA's... it was a strange mix of responsibilities!), Audio Director, Script Supervisor, Production Coordinator... and then some! What it comes down to is... I LOVE WHAT I DO! I'm thankful every day that I get to do something that I love.

Photography: Okay, I'll admit it. I've never taken any course in art or photography. I guess I just lost a few credibility points there. Photography is one of my favourite hobbies. It's pretty rare to catch me without a camera. 99% of the time, I have my Pentax Optio S6 with me, in my purse. On occasions where I know I will be taking photos, I'll have my Canon XTi and a few lenses with me as well. You might even catch me with one of my film cameras - stranger things have happened! Oh, and by the way, I do completely plan on taking a photography course. One of these days.

Crafts: Ask any of my friends and they'll tell you - "Katie loves paper." Ever since I was a young girl, I could be kept occupied for hours at a time with just a few sheets of paper, some scissors and glue. Scrapbooking, card making, paper cutting... anything of the sort is right up my alley. Recently, my friend Amy and I have combined our talents to create "Kat and Toad" - no website right now, just a facebook group, but feel free to browse through our offerings.

Music: One of my greatest passions from a very young age. I began playing piano at 3, and drums at 13. My first concert was The Eagles, at the Molson Amphitheatre, on the day of my grade 8 graduation. After that, I was hooked. I've seen more than 200 bands in concert. And likely taken pictures of at least half of them. When I was in school, I was pretty sure I wanted to be an audio engineer, as my final career. I discovered that I prefer music as a hobby, rather than being directly involved in it. But I do love to do audio for casual shoots and events.

I think that covers most of it. Anything else, you'll have to ask me directly.
